Now, before I actually say how I feel about this movie, I guess I should explain what it is. Basically, Exodus (Full title, Exodus: Gods and Kings), is a live-action version of the story of the book of Exodus, the story of Moses, and the story of Passover, directed by Ridley Scott. Of course, I only assume it will have all those elements because those are the most well-known elements of the Book of Exodus, to the point where I think a lot of non-religious people are familiar with them to an extent. The film has already gotten quite a bit of controversy due to the fact that the majority of the main actors are white, and the story takes place in Egypt and other parts of Africa.
Being someone who really loves another version of the story of Exodus - I not only love Prince of Egypt, but I literally consider it to be perfect- I figured I should give my initial feelings relating to this new movie.
And, here's how I feel about Exodus: Gods and Kings.....I don't really care about it. I mean, I do wish they could have gotten more actors who would really look like they belonged in the setting, but I also don't really have any reason to be interested in the movie. My feelings towards live-action movies in general are pretty mixed, with only a few really standing out to me as exceptionally good. Not to mention, as I said before, I find Prince of Egypt to be a perfect movie, so of course I consider it the definitive version of this story. So, maybe I'll check out Exodus when it comes out on DVD and on-demand, but I have no interest in seeing it in theaters.
